T-Shirt of Hope

Leaving home was a little more difficult than usual. My kids and better half did not want me to leave. To make things easier for them, I set up video conferencing on both my laptop and home computer. That seemed to help thwart their attempts to keep me home.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

IndieHeaven founder and CIA Summit director Keith Mohr states, "As the music industry continues to change and more and more artists are either staying independent or going back to their independent roots, it is important to recognize the pursuit of excellence in this growing industry. There are many independent artists who are doing an incredible job with their music and most importantly, their mission. By providing them the recognition they have earned, we hope to increase their platform and awareness." Visit www.ciasummit.com for more information about the Christian Independent Alliance Summit.

SAVANNAH, GA: Adult contemporary Singer/Songwriter, Belinda Jane has partnered with the Hope for Life Home in Vladivostok, RUSSIA. This ministry is working to build a refuge for abandoned children, all the while teaching them the living word of God. Belinda Jane Ministries is excited to adopt the call of “ministries helping ministries” in the year 2009 with this first ministry in her heart and hands.
Belinda Jane Ministries, based in Savannah, GA, uses the media of music to bring the light of the gospel to the stage. What makes Belinda Jane unique is the “edge” that she brings to her genre. “The music I write is multi-faceted, musically eclectic but with transcending vocals.” states Belinda Jane. Multi-faceted being the integral word in her ministry, Belinda Jane has the ability to touch a wide range of ages in every audience. With a family background of ministry and music, combined with the addition of a “rebel” cause early in her teens, Belinda Jane has visited many avenues of life. Life experience, “good and not so good”, has brought her to a place in both her writing and speaking of “I know what you are going through…” Therefore enabling her to relate to people on the forefront of their troubles and pain. Belinda Jane plans to do various benefit concerts throughout 2009, to help provide funds for this refuge and their building project.
Her partnership with the C.I.A. ALLIANCE, a non-profit 501C3, in Nashville, TN, will enable Belinda Jane to keep the axel greased on her own wheels, along with sharing her blessings with other ministries. The CIA ALLIANCE, along with the Artists in Christian Testimony is dedicated to Christian musicians, singers, bands, songwriters and others, who are impacting people with their music and message worldwide. “We believe as the Christian music industry changes, more and more Christian musicians will remain independent, accomplishing their missions without the existing music industry. We believe the time is right to provide an organization whose purpose is to provide resources independents need to fulfill their unique callings,” states Keith Mohr, President IndieHeaven, Nashville, TN. Every donation will be tax-deductible through the CIA ALLIANCE. If you feel that you want to share and be a part of this, please visit her site, http://www.belindajanemusic.com/ and click on the CIA donation button, placing HOPE FOR LIFE HOME in the notes section. With all of this in place, Belinda Jane hopes to share with you her offering of music and the opportunity to join her on her journey to be “the hands of Christ”…

Today of all days, I found myself giving a lecture to my oldest son. It was not the standard “clean your room” sermon, but in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I tried to appeal to his spiritual senses. My husband and I have tried everything to get him to keep his room clean. We have offered to pay him each week that his room is tidy. We have taken away video games and television. We even confiscated his beloved Les Paul only to find that his clothes are still on the floor and his desk is still in disarray.
As I was sitting on his bedroom floor it hit me. We have been trying to force a change in him, rather than giving him the opportunity and the tools to change himself. So instead of idle threats, I began talking to him about thankfulness. After twenty minutes of rambling and my husband waving his hand across his neck, my final thought was this…we can say we are thankful for the things we have, but how we use and take care of those things is the true measure of our genuine thankfulness.
I am not sure that my speech on thankfulness actually will change my son or assist him in his quest for a clean room, but it certainly helped me put some things into perspective. I regularly thank God for His blessings: my husband, my children, my friends and fans, my ministry and music. Is my offering of thanks merely an expression? Sometimes. Is the true measure of my thankfulness directly related to how well I take care of those things? You bet it is.
Next time I walk into my child’s messy room, I will ask myself…how am I doing in this area of thankfulness? Is it just an expression? Is it an adjective that just describes how I am supposed to feel? Or is it a verb that I am consistently acting upon in response to the great things God has blessed me with?
I pray that you had a very blessed Thanksgiving Day. I hope that you will reflect a little on my idea of thankfulness. As you reflect, know that God is always with you, loving you and just asking for your love in return. As you love and serve God; you will love and serve others.
Be blessed my friend,
Belinda Jane
